State v. ADD

Outcome: Charges Acquitted
Description: Client charged with battery. Alleged victim obtained a temporary restraining order against client and was seeking to pursue criminal charges as well. Mr. Tomas represented the client before the civil court at the restraining order hearing and had the restraining order dismissed. After that, the case proceeded to trial and the client was acquitted of all charges by a jury.


State v. DEA

Outcome: Sentence Reduced
Description: Client charged with first degree felony (armed burglary with a firearm). Mr. Tomas filed a motion to have client declared incompetent and, through a special provision in the statutes, filed a motion to dismiss the client's case. Over the state's objection, the case was dismissed and the client walked away from a potential fifteen year sentence with a minimum mandatory pursuant to Florida's gun laws.
